Stephen Ministries
To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the
unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.
--Ephesians 4:12-13
What is the Stephen Ministry?

A Stephen Minister gives one-to-one, confidential, lay Christian care to church members and their family members who are struggling with transitory life situations, such as divorce, death of a loved one, loss of employment, loneliness, hospitalization, illness, etc.
*Stephen Ministers are trained and supervised lay volunteers, and not professional counselors, therapists, pastors or physicians.
How can a Stephen Minister help me?
Stephen Ministers are Christians who care in the name of Christ. They are willing to talk about spiritual issues but will not force them. They are by and large trained in being good listeners, providing words of encouragement, being supportive, dependable and trustworthy, and offering prayer and scripture when appropriate.
Will my situation remain confidential?
Stephen Ministers are trained and supported in keeping personal information confidential. Stephen Ministers provide a safe and trustworthy relationship without concern that anyone else will know the specifics of what is being shared. Stephen Ministers are supervised, which is necessary to help them provide quality care, but the identity and details that the care receiver shares are kept confidential.
How do I get a Stephen Minister assigned to me?
Stephen Ministry care is mostly a referral process initiated by the pastoral or church staff. The pastor typically will contact the Stephen Leader and recommend a Stephen Minister be assigned. The Stephen Leader completes a brief assessment of the care receiver's needs then assigns a same-gender Stephen Minister that is suitably and prayerfully matched.
To request a Stephen Minister, contact Pastor Dave Scherrer, Pastor Mike Brown or call the church office at 303-467-2020.
How do I become a Stephen's Minister?
