What does it mean
to be a seeker?

How can I
know God?

Sermon Notes

The Church as Your Family:
'Being' and 'Loving' the Family of Christ

October 18, 2009 – Pastor Dave Scherrer

1 Cor. 12:12-14, 20, 22-27

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. For the body does not consist of one member but of many. [God so composed the Body]. . . that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

I Timothy 3:14-15

I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.

Heb. 10:19-25

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
