Intimate Relationships According to God

Notes:

1. We need to identify “why” of relationships

2. We need to establish the “truth” concerning relationships

3. We need to find the “grace” in relationships

The Why of Relationships - The Holy Trinity is our only true model

Genesis 1:26-27

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

So God created man in his own image,
       in the image of God he created him;
       male and female he created them.

Establishing the “Truth” concerning relationships – by standing firmly on the Word

Gen. 2:22-25

And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said,

   "This at last is bone of my bones
   and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
   because she was taken out of Man. "

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

Finding the “grace” in relationships – extending love and hope is not ‘permission' – it is so much better!

1 Cor. 13:13

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
